Messaging: What is it and how is it different from Commenting?
The Mediabox-PA (Product Approvals) integrated Messages tool facilitates project discussions between teams by giving users an easy way to instant message with each other, without having to do so outside the system. Unlike single directional “Comments” that are sent by the licensor to the licensee when a submission is closed, Messages are an internal chat platform that allows back and forth discussions about product design or to clarify change requests. Users may send a Message between stages, and at the project and submission levels.
Why use Messaging?
The messages tool, available to all users, supports group conversations as well as one-on-one chat threads. A licensee may have questions about feedback they received in a comment. The licensor may have a submission question for a licensee, or need to provide additional clarification on their recent comments. This feature is also a great way for team members to chat, whether that’s the internal reviewing team discussing the product design, or it’s the project owner who’s managing the workflow between their colleagues on the Licensee Team.
How does it work?
- All threads remain within the project record, so it’s super easy to locate them or reference them later, even after the project is closed.
- Each recipient receives an email notification when a new message was sent to them, so they see the content in the email, even if they haven’t logged into the system that day.
- Tag each new message with the Scope option, which indicates to recipients whether the content pertains to the entire project or just the current submission.
