St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, and retailers in the United States should be feeling pretty lucky. According to the National Retail Federation, the Irish and the Irish-at-heart will spend upwards of 4.4 million dollars celebrating the holiday.
The prediction is based on a St. Patrick’s Day Spending Survey conducted by the NRF with Prosper Insights and Analytics. In a press release today the NRF says, “…more than 125 million Americans plan to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and are expected to spend an average of $35.37 per person.”
The survey also found that St. Patrick’s Day is most popular with the 18 to 25 year olds, but that age bracket isn’t predicted to spend the most money. Instead, the biggest spending for St. Patty’s Day is expected to come from the 25 to 34 year old demographic, which is slated to spend an average of $42.58 per person. That adds up to a lot of green!
