My day usually starts at 5:30 am with a few minutes of thought about how grateful I am for my family and the great, passionate employees and customers I get to work with. I’ll spend an hour or so helping my wife and kids get ready for their school day. I’ll then spend 30 minutes enjoying coffee with my wife (in front of a fire when the weather is cold). Every other day, my next hour is spent at the gym fighting against the inevitable march of aging! Some days I win and some days I lose that fight!!
On days that I’m not traveling, I’ll arrive at the office around 9:00am-ish. I spend most mornings answering staff questions, reviewing proposals, following up with urgent emails from Asian and European customers or prospects. Lunchtime….what’s that? Actually most days, I enjoy something light to eat at my desk while reading up on industry news and plotting our next major moves (evil laugh!!).
I often spend my afternoons in meetings with staff in our Ohio IT office. I’ll have the occasional customer demo, and work to deliver various requests for information to our parent company, Jonas Software. Before you know it, it’s 5:00 pm, but I’m still heads down on various calls to the West Coast (it’s only 2 pm there!), and on occasion, prepping for an evening demo with Asian customers which usually start around 8 pm and run to 10 pm, when they happen. Most evenings, I’m home by 6:30 pm. Luckily, I’ll get to enjoy a few hours with my family before they head to bed at 9:30 pm. I’m a night owl, so I’ll spend a few more hours catching up on any other work while watching TV. I’ll usually wrap it up at 11:30 pm and try to get to bed by midnight.
On average, I am traveling around 130 days a year. My travels for trade shows, customer demos, meetings with the parent company and technology partners, takes me from LA to Toronto to London, NYC, Iceland, Denmark, France, Sweden, Mexico, Belgium, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Germany, and Ohio. Over the years, I’ve met so many amazing people. Sometimes, I wonder how I got so lucky to get to do what I do at Mediabox!
FUN FACT:
I can count to 20 in Icelandic; I’m also learning how to speak the language fluently. Super useful, considering Iceland is just one of the locations where our servers are hosted.
